Allie Denton

 MSN, PMHNP-BC

(She/Her/Hers)

I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University in 2018 and have had the honor of being in outpatient practice as a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner since that time. The nursing model of care resonated deeply with my belief that health is patient-centered and holistic, integrating mind, body, and spirit. I was drawn to psychiatry for its blend of scientific discovery and the art of holding space for the unknowable. My health philosophy is grounded in the belief that healing is co-created—by connecting with all parts of ourselves, each other, and the world around us.

I welcome clients who are looking to partner with a medication provider who offers time, presence, curiosity, and a balanced approach to mental health and well-being. My practice is rooted in evidence-based care, influenced by integrative medicine, and incorporates supportive psychotherapy when appropriate. I especially enjoy working with clients who are new to mental health treatment, hesitant about the process based on fears or prior experiences, or treatment-experienced and still searching for an approach that feels like the right fit. With a background in interprofessional learning, I value the importance of collaborating with therapists, dietitians, and other members of your care team when needed.

I believe in a comprehensive approach that expands upon the biomedical model to embrace diverse forms of wisdom and am committed to honoring each person’s values, beliefs, and goals in treatment. My approach is relational, body-centered, and grounded in shared decision-making. Rather than simply asking how we can reduce symptoms, I am interested in supporting those symptoms, understanding what they may be communicating, and accessing the innate wisdom of the body. I believe that you are your own medicine. My role is to bring clinical expertise and perspective to support symptoms while cultivating access to the tools and resources within and around you. My hope is that our work together leaves you feeling informed, empowered, and embodied in your care. While I approach our time together with reverence, I also hope we laugh and make space for celebrating the joys of your journey.

Outside of the office, I support my practice and well-being by walking my dog, George, serving as a warm body for my cat, Willow, practicing yoga, hiking, reading, attending comedy shows, and traveling.
